The Junction Highway Church of Christ in Kerrville is
composed of a group of Christians who are committed to practicing New
Testament Christianity. We believe that the
Bible is the revealed Word of God; that the New Testament is our only authority for all
that we do,and that Jesus Christ is our Lord
and Savior. We are not a denomination and are not affiliated with any other church.
We are independent, recognizing only the authority of Jesus
Christ and the authority of the New Testament. We will be
available at any time to study with you and answer any questions you may have. We will
give you only Bible answers to Bible questions. We meet twice a week for worship services and Bible study.
Works of Faith
Evangelism:
"The household of God, the pillar and support of the truth" (1 Tim. 3:15)
- Gospel preaching twice each Lord's day
- Bible classes for various ages and levels of understanding each Sunday and
Wednesday evening
- Financial support of Gospel Preachers in other locations
- It is our goal to support as much Gospel preaching as we are able.
- We have also supported other gospel efforts in the past, both
in and outside of this country. (Phil. 4:15-16; 2 Cor. 11:8-9)
- Special series of Bible Studies on selective occasions
- Three Gospel Meetings each year (Spring, Summer and Fall )
- Personal work groups to follow up visitors, sick, spiritually weak, etc.
- Weekly mail-out to new residents in the community
- Home Bible studies by various members
- Newspaper articles, Bible tracts, weekly bulletin and other teaching aids
- A Web Site devoted to spreading God's word to the best of our ability
Edification:
"Let us stir up one another to love and good deeds, not forsaking our own
assembling together as is the manner of some..." (Heb. 10:24-25)
- Our assemblies each week include the same avenue of worship found in the
New Testament Church:
- Teaching - Acts 20:7
- Lord's Supper - Acts 20:7
- Giving - 1 Cor. 16:1-2
- Prayer - Acts 12:5
- Singing - Eph. 5:19; 1 Cor. 14:15
- All members are encouraged to participate in the worship services
- All Christian men are encouraged to alternate in leading in the assembly
in one or more of these areas
- Personal work group programs trains members to spread the Gospel and
teach others about our Lord, Jesus.
- A singing class is conducted periodically on Sunday afternoon to improve our singing in any way needed and to
learn new spiritual songs
- Our goal, in all things, is to do as Jesus instructed in John 4:24 -
"Worship in spirit and in truth"
Benevolence:
"Now concerning the collection for the saints..." (1
Cor. 16:1; see also 1 Tim. 5:16; Rom. 15:25-26; Acts 2:44-45; 11:29)
- In keeping with the New Testament pattern, the church is active in
benevolence throughout the year
- Benevolence is supplied in different forms, depending on the need: cash,
clothing, food, gas, payment of heating or electric bills, rent, etc.
- The church here is thankful for any opportunity to assist God's people
with spiritual or physical needs
- Individual Christians are also encouraged to "remember the poor" (Gal.
2:10) and help in whatever way they can (see also Gal. 6:10 and Luke 10:30-37)
Discipline: - Caring Enough to Correct
"Brethren, even if a man is caught in any trespass,
you who are spiritual, restore such a one in a spirit of gentleness; each one
looking to yourself, lest you too be tempted." (Gal. 6:1)
- Instructive - 2 Tim. 3:16-17
- Corrective - James 5:19-20; Titus 3:10-11; 1 Cor. 5; 2 Thess. 3:6-15; Rom.
16:17; Matt. 18:15-17
May God bless us in our efforts to serve Him and one another.
"... to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ
Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen" (Ephesians 3:21)
