Introduction - The Gospel  Of John

Introduction: We begin a  study of the fourth gospel, the gospel of John -- the later of the four, being written toward the end of the first century. The purpose is different from the other Gospels  and is clearly stated in John 20:30-31

    1. Each member of the class is exhorted to memorize these verse

     2. We shall refer to an analysis of them often

This Gospel provides a BASIS for, and the VALUE of,  faith in Jesus, as the Christ, the Son of God!

Our method of study shall not be a verse by verse study but  rather, a reading assignment for each week, -namely one COMPLETE CHAPTER. We shall give it a topic. Each is asked to read the chapter prior to class, and then be able to discuss the contents in class.

The following short outline should be considered in order to get a picture of the whole book.

     1. The Prologue 1:1-18

     2. The Public manifestation of the LOGOS 1:19-12:50

     3. The Private Manifestation to disciples 13:1-17:26

     4. Glorification in Crucifixion and Resurrection 18:1-20:31

     5. Epilogue 21:1-25
