John Chapter 5 - CHRIST The Great Physician
Introduction: Today we are grateful for "good" physicians -- doctors!
Great advances have been made in the field of medicine in recent years,
which results in less pain, suffering, and a longer life expectancy.

3. Jesus -- evidence of Christ, Son of God: His power to heal the
Physical in the lesson; indicates his power to HEAL THE SPIRITUAL
MAN!
I. Division and Analysis of the chapter
A. Jesus heals the "impotent man" Vs.1-9

B. Reaction of the Jews Vs. 10-16
1. Critical of carrying bed V. 10

II. How Jesus is the Great Physician!
A. Manifest His power over the physical, by healing the man
1. Showed that God, the Father, was with Him, approving!
2. Laying ground work for them to believe and submit!
B. The Soul is worth MORE than the physical
1. It is lost, in sin, brings death, eternal suffering in hell V.

2. Son: power to GIVE LIFE Vs. 25-26
3. Problem: God sent, gave testimony, but man won't accept thus
lost!
III. How Men reject What They CLAIM to believe in!
A. Understand the point of v. 39
1.They claim to believe scriptures: "For in them ye think ye have
eternal life."
2. "Testify of me.", yet they didn't accept
3. "Ye will not come to me, that ye might have life."
B. Same today:
1. People who claim to believe the scriptures, often reject much
of what says! a. Ignorant of plan to save; b. Fight against; principles
taught; c. Despise the His "church"; d. Carry Bible, ridicule sayings!
2. Results same! Claiming He is great physician, but won't take
medicine!
